OVERVIEW THUY AN CARE CENTRE IN BA VI HANOI VIETNAM
Thuy An Care Centre is located in Thuy An, Ba Vi district, about 70km from Hanoi city. It was established in 1976, originally for the Children of Agent Orange whose parents are the veterans infected with the Agent Orange in American war. As time went by the Centre opens for all disabled children, elderly homeless people and any other people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives and have no family support.
The Centre has housing for approximately 320 residents and live-in nannies plus staff. Almost all of the children have severe physical and intellectual handicapped, but some are children left at the Centre abandoned by their parent or parents with no arrangement or notes. This Centre is always in demand for volunteers as there is always a major staff shortage
As with Bo De Pagoda, the major role of VVCD (Volunteers in Vietnam for Community Development) there is a connection between the Pagoda and volunteers all around the world. Volunteers who wish to volunteer for a short period of time they can contact us via our website and we will help them to complete necessary administration procedures and registration to make sure when they arrive in Vietnam they can straight away start their work at orphanages with the children. More details about what we do for international volunteers can be found here
